Meet the Specialists
Teri Baldwin, DACVO
Teri Baldwin DACVO- Diplomate Veterinary Ophthalmologist, graduated from Purdue University Veterinary Medical School in 2000 and then completed a one-year internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Illinois in 2001. Dr Baldwin then performed a Comparative Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Illinois in 2004 and received her M.S. as well. Previously Dr. Baldwin worked in Dallas for 7 years. Currently Dr Baldwin is working in Clearwater, Florida with BluePearl Veterinary Partners.
The eye exam is a general eye exam, which screens for genetic and non-genetic abnormalities in that are being considered for a breeding program. The eye exam in not a medical examination for existing problems.
Luis Braz-Ruivo, DVM, DVSc, DACVIM (Cardiology)
Dr. Luis Braz-Ruivo is a native of Portugal where he obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Lisbon, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. In the early 90’s he moved to Canada and completed a one year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Guelph. He then went on to complete a three year residency training program in Cardiology, also at the University of Guelph. In 1996, he became board certified by the American College of Internal Medicine in the sub-specialty of Cardiology. After practicing cardiology for two years in Massachusetts, Dr. Braz-Ruivo moved to Maryland and opened a very successful multi-specialty referral hospital and emergency center in 2003. In 2016 he sold his share of the referral hospital and moved to Texas where he currently lives. After a well-deserved vacation he is now providing a mobile cardiology consulting service in Texas.
Health Clinic Information
The Eye Clinic will begin at 9:00 am. Owners are requested to arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment to receive eye dilation and to fill out the OFA forms. Only those getting tested will be allowed in the building so please bring a lawn chair for your 30-minute wait.
The Heart Clinic will begin at 10:00 am. Owners are requested to arrive 15 minutes prior to appointment. Forms can be downloaded by the link provided on our website or can be filled out when you arrive.
There will be assistants to help you handle multiple dogs. When you arrive, please let us know if you need help.
Bathrooms are provided.
Bring a copy of your dog’s registration form to fill out the OFA information!
Once we receive your sign-up form and check, a confirmation email with directions will be sent. Canton is located 1 hour east of Dallas and 45 minutes west of Tyler.
Please arrive on time. Appointments are scheduled 5 minutes apart, so we want the schedule to stay on track. We ask that you wear a mask when out of your car.

Eye Clinic is $35 per dog.
Heart Clinic (auscultation only) is $50 per dog
