Shari Curran is an Occupational Therapist that began the Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation Animal Assisted Therapy Program in 1985. She has published a book, Animal Assisted Therapy: A Guide for Health Care Professionals and Volunteers in 1998. She was named the leading expert in Animal Assisted Therapy and was featured nationally in professional journals, and TV documentaries. She toured across the country conducting seminars to help establish programs. She and her Therapy dog, Tobi were invited to the Whitehouse for their work. Retired, she now takes her dogs to the US Renal Dialysis Unity and spends her time running the Lazy Paws Kennel.
